Livin' Large In The 802
As I may have mentioned once or twice before, Mr. Bubblegum and I recently celebrated our six-year anniversary. This was particularly important to me for two reasons:
- Our first date was on a Saturday, and this year, our anniversary also fell on a Saturday.
- This would be our last “dating” anniversary before we are married.
Because I had been cooped up studying for my actuarial exam, I was feeling like I hadn’t gotten to experience fall (which is my favorite season – how can it not be when you live in New England?) this year. To ease my yearning, Mr. Bubblegum and I decided to visit his homeland – Vermont.
Vermont at this time of year is awesome. Something about fall colors really brings out the small-town charm. And quite frankly, there’s not much that’s better than dutch pancakes, cider mills, and giant origami cranes:
Okay, so it was raining.. but isn’t Vermont cute? I just want to put it in my pocket.
This is where we had lunch. If you’re ever in Stowe, VT (it could happen.. if you’re visiting the Ben & Jerry’s factory, it’s not too much further!), then I HIGHLY recommend you eat here. It is quite possibly the most amazing place that exists on Earth.
This is what I ate. OHHHH man. They have a huge selection of these ginormous pancakes, sweet and savory! And this beauty right here was like a giant latke but CHOCK FULL of Cabot cheddar cheese (that’s how Vermont rolls).
Haha – Come to Vermont and be agri-tained! Classic.
These, my friends, are cider donuts. Annnd they’re amazing. I had never heard of such a thing until recently, but after trying them, I have to say: Lesson Learned. I will officially be experimenting with cider in my wedding cake.
Mr. & Miss Bubblegum. Don’t we look full of cider deliciousness??These are the giant origami cranes that I was referring to. Right next to Mr. Bubblegum’s parents’ house is a hippie-run movie theater that usually has some sort of art on its front lawn. Is this not the coolest thing ever?
So the moral of the story is that Vermont is adorable. I know that Mrs. Onion got married in Burlington, and it looked beautiful. Any other Vermont brides out there?
